Freedom from Windows Taskbar, Almost!
I've always wanted an alternative for the Windows
Taskbar. Maximizing windowed applications do not
occupy the whole screen. Auto-hiding the taskbar shows
a thin line which does not satisfy me. I want the taskbar
gone with no trace. I want the Start Menu shown only
when I tapped on the Windows key on the keyboard.
This is the attitude I got after working under Windows
platform for a very long time.
This is how my desktop look now:

Program applications that I often use are launched with
a single click. I do not need to browse in the Start Menu
and go levels down, either double-click on the desktop
shortcuts.
There is a Start Menu launcher in case I needed to access
program applications that I do not usually use.
Program icons grow big when you point the mouse cursor
over it. Cool!

Applications are now maximized in full screen. I can't
even see the program icons.

Program icons are accessible by moving the mouse cursor
at the bottom of the screen.

Screenshots of minimized applications are shown as icon
thumbnails.

me to free myself from Windows Taskbar.
It has a lot of options I can customize. It comes with 30
built-in background--mine is Glass Vista. I can also adjust
the normal icon size and magnified icon size. Animations
can also be set. My icons bounce when I click on them.
Additional icons means dragging and dropping icons from
my the desktop to the ObjectDock-- same with removing it.
This is really easy.
I do not have to worry that this will slow the performance
of my machine. It has a built-in option that allows me to
choose how it will adapt with my machine--whether it will
use much memory for smoother response or it will use
memory in minimum.
A new way to enjoy Windows platform is what this is--aside
freeing me from the taskbar of course.
Almost, is what I can say. This free version of ObjectDock
does not include the ability to show taskbar notification
icons. Some items such as Safely Remove Hardware icon
and connectivity status are important to me. They should be
accessible to me when the taskbar is not displayed. Also,
my habit to right-click the taskbar in accessing the Task
Manager is also gone together with the taskbar.
However, ObjectDock Plus has the functionality to do this--
with a cost of course. It has the ability to to display multiple
docks and display the notification icons. One can check
ObjectDock Plus by following the link provided earlier.
I am happy with the free version of ObjectDock. I am able
to free myself from the taskbar and customize my program
shortcuts as well--with cool animation!
